Gonzo’s Quest is now over a decade old, but this NetEnt slot has lost none of its appeal. In fact, it has spawned sequels and spin-offs, some of which (such as Gonzo’s Quest: MegaWays) haven’t even been produced by NetEnt, but another provider in parent company Evolution Gaming’s stable, Red Tiger Gaming. This is the slot game that started it all, though.

Gonzo’s Quest is a five-reel, twenty-line slot with an RTP rate of around the 96% mark and medium variance action. It was one of the first slots to use a collapsing reels mechanic, and this was known as an “Avalanche feature” when the game was released. It amounts to the same thing, though.

The reels don’t “spin” in this game. Instead, the symbols represent stone blocks that “fall” onto the reels. If any feature in a win, they crumble to dust and are replaced by new ones that drop down from above, but not before they are added to your prize counter. If you can manage to chain together successive wins, you’ll not only win more but prosper from a progressive multiplier to boot. Managing to land two, three or four wins together will see you snap up 2x, 3x and 5x multipliers on your winnings, respectively. Gonzo’s Quest Symbols

Gonzo’s Quest tells the tale of Gonzalo Pizzaro’s quest to find El Dorado. Therefore, there are plenty of Aztec and Meso-American symbols on the reels. These appear as blocks, and the ones with animals such as birds, snakes, and alligators (as Aztec runes) will deliver wins worth between 0.15x and 5x your bet.

Mask symbols are worth a lot more, and these gold-encrusted symbols can cough up wins worth between 0.5x and 125x your stake. However, these aren’t the only symbols you’ll find in this slot.

Wild symbols appear as silvery question marks; these blocks can replace all symbols without exception. Scatters show up as golden blocks. These are known as Free Fall symbols, and three or more will trigger a free spin round.

The bonus round is known as the Free Falls feature because the symbols “fall” onto the reels instead of “spin”. You’ll start with ten free falls.
